Miami Heat pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat the Orlando Magic 107-90

On Monday night, the Miami Heat trounced the Orlando Magic 107-90, with Jimmy Butler scoring 36 points on 15-for-21 shooting, Bam Adebayo adding 16 points and 13 rebounds, and the Miami Heat pulling away in the fourth quarter.

Markieff Morris scored 16 points off the bench for the Heat, and Tyler Herro added 13 points, five rebounds, and nine assists.

Miami went 19 for 19 from the line, tying the franchise record for most makes without a miss. On March 24, 1993, the Heat went 30 for 30 against Boston.

Orlando's Franz Wagner and Jalen Suggs had 15 points, while Cole Anthony and R.J. Hampton had 12. For Orlando, Mo Bamba and Robin Lopez each had 11 points.

Butler also had five steals and scored the majority of his points for Miami at the rim. By halftime, he had 11 field goals, a career-high for the first two quarters of a game, with the bulk of those being dunks or layups, and the Heat led by as much as 19 points in the first half before taking a 57-44 advantage into the break.

Orlando, which came back from a double-digit hole in New York to win on Sunday night, attempted to repeat the feat in Miami. Anthony scored five straight points midway through the third quarter to pull Orlando within six points, and another Anthony basket early in the fourth quarter cut Miami's lead to 86-77.

That's when the Heat began to pull away.

With 6:47 left, a 12-2 run began with a basket by Herro and ended with him mistakenly banking in a 3-pointer with a wide smile, restoring the advantage to 98-79.

Orlando Magic: After starting the season with three straight road victories, the Magic have only won back-to-back road games once since. For 99 of the 192 minutes this season, the Magic have trailed by double digits or 52 percent of the time.

Kyle Lowry led the Heat with nine points and eight assists. Duncan Robinson played in his 150th consecutive game, the Heat's fifth-longest run. He's eight games away from tying Adebayo for the fourth-longest streak in franchise history, and he's 24 games away from breaking Glen Rice's franchise record. Butler became the first Heat player to reach the halftime break with at least 24 points and four steals.

In Miami's first two games, Butler went 5 for 13 in the first half. In the first half of Monday's game, he went 11 for 13 on the field.

The matchup featured some prominent USA Basketball Select Team members, who had trained against the Olympic team in Las Vegas earlier this summer. That squad was coached by Heat coach Erik Spoelstra and Magic coach Jamahl Mosley, and Herro was a member of the selections. “As a member of the USA Select Team, I understand Tyler's level of confidence and ability to score at a high rate,” Mosley said.
