What is Pity in Genshin Impact?

Pity is a mechanism that feels sorry for you if you haven't been able to pull off a 4- or 5-star character in a long time. It's a clever technique of ensuring that you'll obtain a rare drop at some time rather than wasting Primogems on a never-ending quest for one.

It’s divided into two rarity classes:

1- 4-star, with a Pity marker of 10,

2- 5-star with a marker of 90.

This means that if you don't obtain a 5-star drop in Genshin Impact after 90 pulls, you'll get a 4-star after 10  if you haven’t managed to get one within that time.

Is it true that Pity resets after a 5-star pull?

When you acquire something of that rarity, the counter will reset to zero, so if you get a 5-star at pull 59, the counter will reset to zero. There is no way to manage this because it is absolutely random.
