While aspiring gamers and entertainers vie for the title of most popular Twitch star, established celebrities have already amassed millions of followers. The top 10 Twitch streams are shown below.

Streaming is expected to continue to rise at a rapid rate in 2021, owing to greater competition from YouTube and Facebook Gaming. Twitch, on the other hand, continues to be the most popular platform for livestreaming video.

Those streamers with millions of followers, who frequently attract tens of thousands of viewers as soon as they push the ‘go live' button, are at the top of the heap. Some of these streamers have been active for more than a decade, while others have only been active for a year.

Ninja is still the most popular Twitch streamer

With 17 million followers on his Twitch channel, Ninja is comfortably atop the list of the most popular Twitch streamers. When he went to Mixer, he abandoned his exclusive agreement with Twitch, but returned once the platform was defunct.

While he continues to lead in terms of popularity and followers, streamer Ludwig 'Ludwig' Aghren has surpassed Ninja's record of 269,154 subs at one time. His overall viewership may have decreased in 2021, but he still leads the pack in terms of followers by a wide margin.

Former CS:GO pro Michael ‘shroud‘ Grzesiek was in second place with almost six million followers at the time of Ninja's last relocation, but Tfue used Ninja's departure to overtake shroud, who had previously relocated to Mixer for a brief period before returning to Twitch. Tfue now has over 10 million followers, while Shroud has fallen to fourth place, with El Rubius gaining ground.

Dr Disrespect’s ban

Guy 'Dr Disrespect' Beahm shattered the internet after getting banned in June 2020 for an unknown cause. He had 4.45 million followers at the time of his ban, which wouldn't even put him in the top 20 presently.

Dr Disrespect returned to streaming on YouTube, where he has had a lot of success, albeit he admits that not streaming on Twitch has cost him money.

Minecraft streams are taking over the world

This year, in particular, we've noticed an increase in the number of streamers famous for Minecraft in the top 20. Dream and TommyInnit, in particular, have quickly risen to the top 20. Ranboo is also expected to break into the top 20 soon, possibly knocking Mongraal off the list.

9: ibai – 8.1 million followers

Known for: League of Legends

Ibai Llanos is a Spanish streamer that specialises in League of Legends and other video games. Starting with League of Legends in 2014. He currently works for G2 Esports as a content creator.

8: TheGrefg – Followers: 8.2 million

Known for: Fortnite/Minecraft

TheGrefg, a YouTube sensation, creates some of the best Spanish entertainment available on Twitch. While he primarily broadcasts Fortnite and Minecraft, his fame has increased this year, and he's lately expanded into Fall Guys and Among Us.

7: Pokimane – Followers: 8.3 million

Pokimane is by far the most popular female streamer, and she serves as a role model for many others. She is a member of Offline TV and streams a variety of games, but her main focus is League of Legends, which she began with before going on to Fortnite. Pokimane was the most popular female Twitch streamer in 2020.

6: xQc – Followers: 9.3 million

Known for: Overwatch/Variety

Félix 'xQc' Lengyel, a former Overwatch pro, has recently joined esports organisation Luminosity Gaming as a content creator. While he is mostly interested in first-person shooters, he now streams an improbable variety of games, with even 'Just Chatting' attracting upwards of 50,000 views. In 2020, he was the most popular streamer.

5: Shroud – Followers: 9.7 million

Known for: Variety

Former pro player Michael'shroud' Grzesiek developed a reputation as the 'human aimbot' after earning a name for himself with his insane aim in CS:GO and subsequently PUBG. He went to Mixer shortly after Ninja, but has now returned to his own site, where he has seen a significant increase in followers.

4: Rubius – Followers: 10.1 million

Known for: Variety

Rubius is one of Twitch's most popular non-English speaking streamers. He is most known for his YouTube channel, but his enormous following also supports his live streams.

3: Auronplay – Followers: 10.3 million

Known for: Variety

Raul 'AuronPlay' Alvarez Genes, like TheGrefg, has exploded in 2020. AuronPlay, a big GTA V broadcaster, has been one of the main Among Us video makers since the game went viral. In September, he was banned from Twitch, but it was lifted 20 minutes later.

2: Tfue – Followers: 10.7 million

Known for: Fortnite/Call of Duty

Despite Pestily taking over in terms of subs, Tfue remains the second most followed Twitch streamer. Tfue was the only Fortnite broadcaster that could compete with Ninja during the game's peak in 2018, and later usurped him in viewership in 2019. Ninja's transition to mixer paved the road for him to reach the top of the charts. He is only the second Twitch streamer to reach the milestone of 10 million followers.

Known for: Fortnite/Variety

Ninja, like Tfue, is no longer dedicated to Fortnite, but it was the game that propelled him to previously unheard-of levels of Twitch fame. He's a former Halo pro who now plays a number of large games and has recaptured his title as Twitch's most popular streamer.

Despite his channel's stats plummeting, he doesn't appear to be losing ground anytime soon, with nearly twice second place.
