Shin Megami Tensei V: How to unlock Demon Fusion and the Demon Compendium

You may have noticed that something is missing after completing the tutorial area, which leads up to the first Abscess encounter. How can you get rid of the weaker demons and transform them into something less heinous? Veterans may be looking for a Jakyou Manor or a Cathedral of Shadows, but in Shin Megami Tensei V, neither exists. Instead, we have the Realm of Shadows, a sphere of space under Sophia's authority.

A few features will be unlocked after your first encounter with Sophia, but Demon Fusion and the Compendium will not be unlocked until after you clear the first Abscess and reach the Leyline. When you enter the World of Shadows after completing the quest, Sophia will inform you that Dyad Fusion has been activated.

The addition of Reverse Fusion, a very handy tool that simply shows you every single demon fusion result based on the demons in your party, is one of the most notable modifications to fusion in SMTV. In fact, the game included a third option, the Reverse Compendium Fusion, which does the same thing but also includes summonable demons from your Compendium.

This saves a crazy lot of time compared to earlier entries, which required you to either check each demon combination by hand or use an online calculator to figure out what you needed. Keep in mind that no matter what you can fuse, you'll still need the Macca from the Compendium to summon and the required level to control the outcome.
