Final Fantasy XIV: In From the Cold Quest Walkthrough
Players will encounter a quest called "At From the Cold" when they arrive in Garlemald in Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker, which contains a strange solo mission. This mission takes place as events in Garlemald come to a close and the Scions plot their next move against Fandaniel and Zenos, but the two have other intentions for the Warrior of Light. In this quest, you take on the role of an Unknown Imperial who must return to Camp Broken Glass before the time limit runs out. However, it's not entirely clear what you should do in this situation. Here's how to finish Final Fantasy XIV's In From the Cold quest.
What to Do During the In From the Cold Quest in FFXIV
You'll take control of an Unknown Imperial with a very rudimentary skillset as you start the In From the Cold Quest. A basic Paladin combination, a damage mitigation ability, and a modest buff will be available to you. Because you don't restore health on your own, you'll need to discover medical kits on the bodies of fallen Garleans to heal yourself.
"Reach Camp Broken Glass within the time limit," says the quest's first goal. However, you must not do so in order to fulfill this mission. You must locate and interact with the Immobilized Magitek Reaper at the Immobilized Magitek Reaper to achieve your true goal (X: 23.9, Y: 16.9). On the map above, you can see its exact location. Following that, you'll have to obtain fuel to power the reaper as well as an identity key to pilot it.
How to Find Fuel for the Magitek Arm
Finding fuel for the Immobilized Magitek Reaper is the first order of business after discovering it. Fortunately, you won't have to travel too far. There's a wrecked Magitek Reaper to the northeast with some fuel left to salvage. To collect ceruleum fuel, simply approach the Fuel-concealing Wreckage at (X: 27.3, Y: 13.5).
You'll have to bring the gasoline all the way back to the Immobilized Magitek Reaper, so stay as hidden as possible. When possible, pass through buildings and alleyways, and don't be afraid to confront a tempered Imperial if they get in your way if they're alone. However, you should avoid wearing active Magitek armor at all times, as your odds of defeating the machines are minimal at best. It's time to acquire the identification key when you've successfully returned the fuel.
How to Get the Magitek Reaper Identification Key
The Immobilized Magitek Reaper is actually fairly near to the identifying key. It's available from Wounded Imperial hiding within a nearby structure at (X: 23.5, Y: 16.2). When you approach close enough, the Wounded Imperial will shout out to you, making them difficult to miss.
You have everything you need to operate the Immobilized Magitek Reaper after acquiring the key from the Wounded Imperial. Make a beeline for the machine. It's time to dispatch the Imperials that are obstructing your progress.
Completing In From the Cold
The Immobilized Magitek Reaper is still immobilized, even with the fuel and identification key. Although you are unable to move, all of the machine's weaponry is completely functional. Take out the waves of Imperials in front of you with the tools at your disposal. The controls are a little quirky at times, but if you're a Praetorium veteran, you should be OK.
You'll be back on foot after the Magitek Reaper sequence. If you keep walking, you'll come across a group of Imperial citizens. You'll be knocked back by an explosion and your screen will go dark after you assist them in defeating the adversaries. To survive the Active Time Maneuver, mash all of the buttons, then crawl forward until a cutscene appears. The task will be completed whenever you reach the cutscene!
