Final Fantasy XIV: How to beat Barnabas in The Tower of Babil

During your try at The Tower of Babil in Final Fantasy XIV, you and a small number of Final Fantasy XIV players will be up against Barnabas. It's the dungeon's first monster, and if you want to survive and go to the next stage, you'll need to pay attention to its attack rotations and mechanics. Here's everything you need to know about defeating Barnabas in Babil's Tower.

Barnabas will use the Ground and Pound ability to pound the engineer to the east of it and knock them off the arena at the start of this fight. If you observe Barnabas preparing this wind-up after that, it will be used against you and your party members, knocking you back if the ability lands against you.

Barnabas will then use Dynamic Scrapline, a minor AoE attack, to counteract this strike. Above each party member's head, however, will be a Negative or Positive indication. Barnabas will be surrounded by a Negative or Positive sign. If your symbol matches Barnabas', you should stand near it, just outside the AoE. If you're on the other hand, you'll want to stand outside the arena's green aura, away from Barnabas. Those who match Barnabas will be pushed aside, while those who are opposite Barnabas will be drawn closer.

Shocking Force, a targeted assault in which you must group on the player with the Line Stack sign, is another strike to be aware of. Assemble around the symbol-wielding group, and make sure your healer is ready to repair the damage.

Barnabas will finally make his way to the north side of the arena, away from the green electricity, and prepare to unleash Dynamic Punch. Each character will have a Negative or Positive Polarity symbol above their head, similar to Dynamic Scrapline, and the Dynamic Punch AoE line will also have a Polarity symbol. If the symbol matches move close to the Dynamic Punch AoE; if it doesn't, get close to the green electricity at the arena's edge.

After using this strike, Barnabas will depart the green electrical barrier and return to the arena's center. After this assault, he utilized Thundercell to conjure four electricity orbs at the circle's northwest, southwest, northeast, and southeast corners. These orbs fire AoE assaults at you, which you must avoid by standing between two of them. Because they don't have a marker to warn you of their impending attack, the best option is to stand dead center between them. Barnabas will also employ an AoE attack called Rolling Scrapline to encircle itself, so you won't be able to get close to it before these go off.

During the encounter in The Tower of Babil, Barnabas will rotate through these powerful strikes. You'll get a Treasure Coffer after you beat Barnabas, and you'll be able to collect items and weapons for your Job from the dungeon.
