Final Fantasy XIV: How to beat Lugae in The Tower of Babil

Lugae is the second boss in Final Fantasy XIV's Tower of Babil dungeon. In the Endwalker expansion, you'll be able to battle your way to the pinnacle of The Tower of Babil, putting an end to whatever mayhem is raging in Garlemald. In The Tower of Babil, this is how you defeat Lugae.

Lugae's first ability is Thermal Suppression, which he performs right at the start of the fight. It's an unblockable room AoE that strikes everyone, therefore everyone in the group should expect to receive damage, and the Healer should be ready to defend against it. You should expect Lugae to use Thermal Suppression numerous times throughout the engagement, so be prepared.

Lugae then utilizes the Magitek Missile, which fires numerous rockets in small circular AoEs behind it. By immediately moving to Lugae's flank, you can avoid these. Lugae then uses a move called Magitek Ray, in which it rotates around to face a party member and unleashes a strong line AoE attack against them. Each of these attacks can be easily avoided.

During this battle, Lugae uses Magitek Chakam and Downpour, which are both strong strikes. When multiple huge blades appear on the side of the arena, covering the entire area and striking everyone, it is known as Magitek Chakram. This occurs twice. To dodge it, stand close to Lugae on the purple level and transform into a tiny. You'll evade the assault in this manner, and you'll be able to continue attacking Lugae while in this shape.

The second effect, Downpour, fills the room with water. To survive, stand next to Lugae on the green platform, which will change you into a frog. You won't be able to assault Lugae while you're a frog. Lugae will also be firing Magitek Missiles at you and your party members in this form. You'll have to dodge these projectiles and jump around the arena until the effects of the spell wear off and Downpour vanishes.

Magitek Explosive is the other attack to watch out for. On the outskirts of the arena, Lugae summons three huge bombs. Because these explosives generate a cross-formation AoE, you'll want to pick a spot in the room where there are no bombs and stand there. Then, if your tank is able to transport Lugae to that position, you can assault it from there.

During your combat in The Tower of Babil, Lugae will rotate through these attacks. You'll be able to loot from a Treasure Coffer and obtain equipment for any of your Jobs after defeating Lugae.
