Final Fantasy XIV: How to unlock Zodiark and Hydaelyn Extreme Trials

You'll want to unlock the Zodiark and Hydaelyn Extreme Trials if you want to prepare for the Pandemonium raids. These trials are significantly more difficult than the story trials you've already accomplished, and you and your team will need to be on your A-game to succeed. The prizes are well worth the effort, as you will receive item level 570 weaponry as well as a chance at a rare mount if you complete these trials.

To take part in these Extreme Trials, you'll need two things: an item level average of 560 and the ability to access them by speaking with the Wandering Minstrel after completing the mission Endwalker. Obtaining Tomestone gear or donning gear drops from the level 90 dungeons, Smileton, and Stigma Dreamscape will increase your item level.

After watching the Endwalker credits, go to Old Sharlayan to unlock the Extreme Trials. The Wandering Minstrel will be leaning against a wall at Scholar's Harbor. Speak with him and tell him about your battles against the primals. You will have unlocked The Minstrel's Ballad: Zodiark's Fall and Hydaelyn's Call once he sings a song. By going to the High-end Duty tab of your Duty Finder, you can queue for these Trials.
