Nintendo Switch: How to fix error code 2306-0502

On the Nintendo Switch platform, an error number 2306-0502, or 2306-0501, indicates that players were disconnected from matchmaking services prior to the process starting. These error codes usually indicate that something went wrong with the user's internet connection.

Users who receive this error code are advised to take the following steps:

• The home network should be rebooted.
• Close the distance between the Nintendo Switch and the wifi router.
• Make sure there are no metal objects between the Switch and the router that could cause interference.
• Manually input the DNS in the Switch's Internet Options.

Users who are still getting this error number after troubleshooting are most likely missing out on Nintendo's online services, which is most likely due to broad Amazon Web Services (AWS) outages.

The AWS disruptions in mid-December were caused by a Java vulnerability that was made public on December 9 and involves an input field that isn't sanitized within a logging database module that is widely used by developers. Twitch, Amazon, Ring, Netflix, EA, Valorant, Battle.net, League of Legends, and other services were among those affected.

Because of the extensive use of the logging module, security experts believe that this service outage will be a long-term problem. Some speculate that the consequences will be far worse than the Heartbleed vulnerability.
