In Pokemon Go, a new set of Mega Steelix Energy Timed Research assignments has gone online, with plenty of Mega Energy up for grabs if you complete them all. Mega Evolutions are some of the most powerful Pokemon Go creatures, but they're also some of the most expensive to evolve, so any chance to gain some extra Mega Energy is always nice.

Many Trainers will still be struggling to collect enough Mega Energy to evolve the Steel/Ground-type Mega Steelix when it debuts in December 2021, but Niantic may have just fixed that problem for you. A new Mega Steelix Energy Timed Research questline has started for January 2022, and completing all of the tasks will reward you with a large amount of Mega Energy.

When does the Mega Steelix Energy Timed Research end?

The Mega Steelix Energy Timed Research questline will last until Monday, January 31, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. local time, giving you a month to collect all of the Mega Steelix Energy available.

The Mega Steel Energy that should have been given in January's Research Breakthroughs has been replaced by this one-off Timed Research questline.

How do you evolve Mega Steelix in Pokemon Go?

To Mega Evolve your Steelix, you'll need a total of 200 Mega Steelix Energy, plus 40 Mega Steelix Energy for each subsequent Evolution. You could have had enough by the time you finished this Timed Research.

Mega Steelix doesn't do well in Raids, thus it's just useful for giving your other Ground and Steel-type Pokemon a Mega Boost and earning more Candy while catching Pokemon of those types.
