Brock Lesnar's next opponent after WWE Day 1 revealed

Day 1 ended with Brock Lesnar becoming the new WWE Champion, a conclusion that few fans predicted before to the program. The spotlight is now on Brock Lesnar's next task. According to Dave Meltzer, former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley will face The Beast Incarnate in his fantasy match.

The WWE Day 1 main event was addressed on the most recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. The WWE Championship match, according to Meltzer, was set up to facilitate Lashley vs. Lesnar.

The program ended with a brief staredown between the powerhouses, as seen on Day 1. While WWE management considered Big E vs. Lesnar, Meltzer revealed that they decided the Bobby Lashley match would be more marketable.

How WWE planted the seeds for Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley at Day 1

Bobby Lashley looked dominant versus Brock Lesnar in the brief but highly interesting Day 1 main event. On a few occasions, The All-Mighty was able to connect with his spear, and he even managed to put Brock Lesnar in The Hurt Lock until Big E intervened. It's also worth noting that Bobby Lashley was the only competitor to evade Brock Lesnar's horrific F5.

The booking pattern reflected WWE's desire to see Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley face off in a major match in the near future:

"If you recall, Lesnar F5ed everyone but Lashley during the match, and they set up a couple of spots, one of which was the Lashley spear through the barricade. The Lashley spear was present in the ring, yet Lesnar managed to kick out of it. Then there was the Hurt Lock when Lesnar was locked with the expectation that Lashley would prove he could get him in there and beat him, but Big E saved the day.  

They booked all of the spots in order to be dominant; all of the spots with Lashley and Lesnar were booked so that Lashley could look nice while Lesnar pummelled and destroyed everyone else. So that's where they're going with it."
