Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Release date, cast, plot, trailer, and More details
When Sonic the Hedgehog was released in theatres last year, it was a huge success. It has the biggest launch weekend for a video game ever. It's safe to say that this caught supporters off guard. After seeing the movie's first design for its star Sonic, the majority of them believed that the video game adaptation would be a catastrophic disaster. However, the revamp paid off, as the film's sequel is set to be released in 2022.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Cast and Plot
The good news for fans of the original film is that all of the big players, including Ben Schwartz, are returning. He's returned as the titular hedgehog's voice actor. He'd long expressed a desire to return, and during an interview in February 2021, he joked that he'd already read the script and thought it was "great."
Both James Marsden and Tika Sumpter have indicated that their roles as Tom and Maddie Wachowski will be reprised. Jim Carrey will reprise his role as the villainous Dr. Robotnik.
For the time being, plot specifics are being kept under wraps, although it appears that the sequel will feature Sonic's adorable buddy Tails. Tails made a brief appearance in the original film's post-credits scene. The tail on the number 2 in the sequel's title font also heavily suggests his involvement this time around. The plot is believed to continue from the events of the previous film, which saw Dr. Robotnik thrown through a portal to a mushroom planet while still holding Sonic's quill.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Trailer and Release Date
The first trailer for the film was presented during this year's Game Awards. The film depicts Dr. Robotnik and fan-favorite character Knuckles returning to Earth in an egg-shaped spaceship (Idris Elba).
