The Equalizer 3 is happening with Denzel Washington
Denzel Washington is set to reprise his role in The Equalizer 3. The films, which are based on the 1980s television series of the same name, follow Washington's character Robert McCall, a man with a mysterious past – once a Marine, he faked his death to start over, but in The Equalizer, he uses his skills to protect a young prostitute named Teri (Chloe Grace Moretz). In the sequel, he vows to avenge the death of a former coworker and friend. Antoine Fuqua directed both of the films.
Washington told Collider, "They've written the third Equalizer, so I'm set to do it." "So I'm going to have to get in shape and start thrashing guys again. I got to thrash people once more. The Tragedy of Macbeth, followed by a thrashing of certain people. I mean, it can't really be much better, right?"
While it's not clear whether Fuqua will return to direct the third picture, Collider's sources believe he's in talks to do so — and the article adds that, while conversations aren't yet complete, Collider anticipates The Equalizer 3 to be Fuqua's next project after Will Smith's Emancipation on Apple TV Plus.
Washington most recently acted alongside Frances McDormand in The Tragedy of Macbeth, and The Equalizer 3 appears to be his next project. The Little Things, starring Washington, Rami Malek, and Jared Leto, was released in 2021.
