Cyberpunk 2077: Should you cut Dex out in the Heist mission?
Following a conversation with Evelyn Parker during The Information mission, you are given the opportunity to betray Dex early on in Cyberpunk 2077. This comes up again during the Heist mission when you must decide whether or not to cut Dex out, so you'll want to know which path leads to the best ending for the rest of your time in Cyberpunk 2077.
We have that information for you, but it comes with a spoiler warning in case you want to complete this assignment without knowing anything about it. We'll keep the spoilers to a minimum, but there is some information we need to share, so keep that in mind if you continue reading.
Should you agree to do the job for Evelyn Parker and cut Dex out in Cyberpunk 2077?
In Cyberpunk 2077, the idea of betraying Dex initially appears when you speak with Evelyn Parker after the braindance in the quest for Information. This is when you go through the braindance with Dex to figure out where the heist took place. When you're finished and about to go, she'll suggest that you cut Dex out and divide the money with her.
V points out that in Night City, not meddling with fixers is pretty much the only rule that people follow, and that it's a horrible idea. You then have the choice to indicate you'll think about it or that you're not interested in the chat. It doesn't matter at this point; you may either say you'll think about it or flatly refuse, and it won't affect how things play out for the time being.
Should you tell Dex that Evelyn Parker wanted to cut him out?
When you meet Dex for a final briefing before the major robbery in the Heist mission, it's crunch time for deciding whether or not to betray him and cut him out. Before you start the heist, you, Jackie, and T-bug will all be present to go through the plans. As you check through the information, you'll see a conversation option that allows you to tell Dex about Evelyn Parker's plot.
If you ignore it, nothing happens; Dex is unaware, and the task proceeds normally. If you opt to tell him what she was planning, he'll dismiss it with scarcely a mention - because this type of stuff allegedly happens all the time - and then raise your job compensation to 40% for being honest.
However, for reasons we won't reveal right now, you won't be paid, and you won't have to worry about Dex in the long run. So this is all a bit of a ruse decision that appears to have an influence but really has none. Whether or not you inform him, circumstances will unfold in exactly the same manner, and you'll arrive at the same point later, so don't lose sleep over it.
