If you've never sailed before, it's not clear how you're going to accumulate such a significant quantity without spending several hours cultivating. That isn't the case, fortunately, especially if you know where to look.
In general, finishing missions on several of the islands found surrounding Lost Ark will net you a large number of Pirate Coins. Freedom Isle, appropriately named, is the island that delivers the most benefits in the least amount of time (marked above).
There's another option to raise the number of Pirate Coins you earn on a regular basis besides completing island assignments. Every port in Raiders of the Lost Ark has a Tea and Libra Guild Vessel where you can exchange special currency for more Pirate Coins.
However, the conversion prices vary by coin kind, with Sun Coins fetching the highest price of 20 Pirate Coins each. Keep this in mind if you're given a High Seas Coin Chest, as one of the available rewards is 100 Sun Coins.
