Elden Ring: How to get dropped Runes out of a boss room
It's frustrating to lose Runes in Elden Ring, especially if it happens during a boss fight. If you're not careful, you could lose a large number of Runes within a boss arena, leaving you with two options: run inside and grab them in the hopes of defeating the boss this time, or simply leave them.
There is, however, a third option, which utilizes an exploit that has been present in FromSoftware's Souls series since Demon's Souls. You can recover Runes dropped during a boss fight without having to win by saving and exiting the game in the middle of the encounter.
Begin by passing through the Mist Gate that leads to the boss you'll be confronting. Make a mad sprint for your dropped Runes, pick them up, and then get a long way away from the boss. Now open the start menu, scroll down to "system," select the "quit game" submenu, and confirm you want to exit the game. You will be taken back to the title screen. It's critical to complete this task as quickly as possible before the boss has a chance to kill you.
Reload your game at the title screen. Your character will spawn outside the Mist Gate, possessing all previously dropped Runes. You can now spend them however you like. This strategy isn't without risk, therefore we recommend going into boss fights with as few Runes as possible to avoid losing any Runes you've accumulated.
