Elden Ring: How to get the Ash of War Gravitas

You must kill and loot the Slender Wayfarer patrolling the Seaside Ruins beach in southern Limgrave West to obtain the Ash of War: Gravitas in Elden Ring. But before you can kill him, you must first safely reach the beach. Those cliffs are extremely high, and merely falling to the shore will almost certainly kill you.

Starting at the Seaside Ruins Site of Grace, proceed northwest along the cliff top until you're close to a colony of Giant Bats, but don't get too close. Summon Torrent, then stand on the cliff edge close to the Erdleaf Flower and look east and down. A small ledge can be found down there.

Jump off the cliff, then land on the ledge by jumping again in mid-air. You should only take minor falling damage if you miss the ledge. Now jump to a north-facing ledge and slide down the cliff to the beach.

The Slender Wayfarer can be seen patrolling back and forth through an arch with a tiny bonfire a short way to the south. Before he realizes you're there, launch any ranged attacks you have at him. His gimmick is magic attacks that lure you closer to him, but they're easy to avoid because his blade glows with purple energy anytime he's ready to use one (although they won't do much harm anyway if you're strong and fast in melee).

His most hazardous strike is when he impales you – it's tough to see coming, and it deals a lot of damage, so keep your health up and, if he does catch you with it, flee and heal before re-engaging. Guard Counters have shown to be highly successful against him, but it all depends on your play style and character build.
