Gran Turismo 7: How to lower PP (Performance Points)

A maximum PP is required to enter numerous races in Gran Turismo 7, and you can only enter certain races if your car has that maximum PP or fewer. In certain situations, you want to make your automobile perform worse – you want to tune it down. So, how do you do that in GT7?

One alternative is to acquire tuning parts or modify your car. Most tuning items increase your car's PP, while others actually decrease it. This is because some parts interact with others, and some parts make your car more stable yet diminish its total performance. A wing is one item that always reduces PP (since it adds weight) yet is worth having on powerful cars. GT Auto sells these, not the Tuning Shop.

Many tuning items for your car can be removed easily to lower your car's PP. Or at least delete some. Go to your Garage, then Car Settings. On this page, pick the pieces, then select “Normal.” You can now hit Triangle to measure your car's performance and earn a new PP value. If your car has advanced parts, you can save PP by purchasing less advanced parts from the Tuning Shop. For example, if it has Racing Tires and you buy Sports Tires, the Racing Tires will be instantly replaced, lowering your car's PP.

Buy a Power Restrictor or Ballast from the Club Sports tab in the Tuning Shop to fine-tune your car's PP and lower it by a few points. Purchasing these has no effect on your car's PP, but they add new options under Performance Adjustment in your Car Settings. A Power Restrictor limits your automobile's power output by a percentage, while Ballast adds weight to your car one kg at a time. When the Power Restrictor is set to 90%, your car's horsepower will be decreased from 500 to 450.

Finally, if you've heavily modified your car's engine or body and want to drastically reduce its PP, you might consider a New Body or New Engine. Check your changes in the last two areas of the Car Settings screen. “Installed” under Engine Tuning or Bodywork cannot be removed. To undo these alterations, you must purchase a New Engine or a New Body from the Tuning Shop, under the Extreme tab.
