Gran Turismo 7: How to complete the Magic Mountain Jeep Night Safari mission

If you're playing Gran Turismo 7 version 1.06 and finding The Pass: Jeep Night Safari, the fifth Magic Mountain assignment, nearly impossible to complete, you're not alone. The good news is that, despite your poor GT7 skills, this task is not particularly challenging.

In the 1.06 update, Polyphony Digital introduced a new problem that causes vehicles in some license tests, missions, and circuit experiences to have the wrong tyres. This issue primarily affects dirt driving and drifting challenges, including the Jeep Night Safari, where your Dirt tyres have been swapped by Comfort tyres, as you can see from the list on this page.

Polyphony has promised to fix the tyre fault in a future release, but in the meantime, various licensing tests, missions, and circuit experiences can still be completed. Even with the improper tyres, exceptionally skilled players may be able to obtain Gold rewards.

Even if you don't have the problem and are playing a later version, the method and technique for beating the Jeep Night Safari are nearly identical. Maintain a smooth racing line and stay in the slipstream of the leader until the third bend, when you should be able to overtake on the inside.

Maintain a tight grip on the pedal through the simple left-hander, then brake hard on the short straight and powerslide around the long right-hander. Now go full throttle up the hill, then slack off slightly as you approach the top right-hander and power for the finish line.
