Horizon Forbidden West: How to find the Ghost of Tsushima easter egg
Horizon Forbidden West includes a touching homage to Patrick Munnik, the chief producer of Horizon Zero Dawn, who died in June 2019 at the age of 44. The memorial is set up similarly to a meditation mat in Ghost of Tsushima. Aloy sits on a circular mat, admiring the vista in front of her while reading a brief eulogy to Munnik instead of a haiku. Even the music used during this sequence is reminiscent of the Ghost of Tsushima.
To find the memorial, you must first finish the Death's Door main objective, which unlocks The Base and allows you to travel to the west side of the area. The memorial is located near the map's westernmost point, which is accessible regardless of level but may be dangerous to approach if your level is still low. Fortunately, if you don't feel like battling, most machines may be evaded by using stealth or simply fleeing.
Wade from the sandbank to the sandbank to reach the small island once you reach the mainland's westernmost tip. Read the note on the meditation mat after following the path to the top of the rock. This will cause Aloy to read the following eulogy to Patrick Munnik in a scene:
Here, we remember our friend,
with a view as calming as his voice,
on stone as strong as his spirit.
He was not just our rock,
he was our oak, sturdy and stoic,
whose presence brought us comfort and
whose branches touched us all.
Rest in peace.
