Elden Ring: How To Get The Jar Cannon

Elden Ring has a plethora of intriguing weaponry to discover, some of which are a little more unusual than others. Take the Jar Cannon, for example. This gigantic mortar is capable of throwing a big missile at adversaries, and it more than makes up for its lack of speed with raw strength. It's simply simple fun to use, despite all the complexities. However, some players may find it tough to obtain the Jar Cannon.

What will players have to go through to obtain the Jar Cannon, and where will they find it? Although it is feasible to obtain it "early on" in terms of location, it is guarded by a formidable boss (especially for new Tarnished). Here's how Elden Ring aficionados may get their hands on the Jar Cannon and start blowing holes in their enemies the size of cannonballs.

Where To Find The Jar Cannon

The Jar Cannon may only be obtained by making the long and grueling journey to the Volcano Cave, located north of Mt. Gelmir. The huge mountain is far north of Elden Ring's starting point, far beyond the Atlas Plateau.

The zone can be accessed in two ways, the first being through the Atlas Plateau itself. This is a long and difficult approach because it needs piecing together the Dectus Medallion and riding the Grand Lift of Dectus up from Liurnia of the Lakes to get to the Plateau itself.

Players must enter a unique region in Raya Lucaria and die to a Virgin Abductor to complete the second path. Players that begin in the Church of the Cuckoo Site of Grace and proceed to the end of the passageway will find themselves in Raya Lucaria's graveyard.

Following the linear path forward will lead them to a giant "elevator" with a wheel that transports stone platforms on a conveyor belt. Players will be placed in a wide-open area rich with crystals after hopping onto one of the platforms and successfully riding all the way up, over, and down the opposite side of the elevator.

A Virgin Abductor is waiting in this area, and allowing it to grab players and bring them into its Iron Maiden (and successfully kill them) will force them to respawn in Volcano Manor's basement. It is possible to pass through the manor and enter Mt. Gelmir from this location, but players should be aware that they will be confronted by two formidable bosses. The passage from the cellar to the rest of the Manor is blocked by a pair of Virgin Abductors (one with wheeled blades and the other with guillotine-style blades).

Finding Volcano Cave & Defeating Demi-Human Queen Margot

After reaching the summit of Mt. Gelmir, players must travel all the way north to the Volcano Cave near the summit. This hidden location is wedged into the slope near a cliff edge and is surrounded by Demi-Humans. Players will find a Site of Grace to activate and some fairly gloomy passageways to travel once they enter the Volcano Cave.

Although it is recommended that players bring a torch, the cave is quite short and the route to the boss room is fairly straightforward. Players can choose to either kill all of the Demi-Humans inside or rush to the boss area and confront Demi-Human Queen Margot.

Demi-Human Queen Margot is a rather simple boss battle. She's speedy, has a jump attack, and can cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time. Players should just stay away from the Demi-Human until they figure out her attack patterns, telegraphs, and "rotation." Overall, she's not nearly as challenging as some of the other bosses found throughout Elden Ring or on Mt. Gelmir. The Jar Cannon will be given to players after they have vanquished Demi-Queen Margot.

What Does The Jar Cannon Do?

The Jar Cannon is a big and heavy ranged weapon that fires Great Bolts at foes. The Jar Cannon may be used to inflict huge damage on enemies from a long distance, however, it is vital to know that it takes a long time to reload. It is not suggested that players use this weapon to attack foes or bosses who are exceptionally swift, as it can be tough to land successive bullets on them.

The Jar Cannon is also quite hefty, weighing in at 15.0 pounds. It will be difficult to equip the Jar Cannon with anything other than light and medium armors if you don't have a lot of Endurance or a lot of equipping allotment.

The Jar Cannon can deal a lot of damage, but merely using it correctly requires a lot of muscle. To wield the enormous range weapon and use it efficiently, players will need to have 34 Strengths and 12 Dex. Those who can handle the Jar Cannon's massive weight and sluggish reload time appropriately will find one of the strongest ranged weapons in the game in terms of damage output.
