PS5: How to get GTA Online free
As part of the debut of the new Enhanced Edition of the long-running game, GTA Online will be available for free download this week. Since its first release in 2013, Rockstar Games has been planning the release of GTA 5's third major port. With the game coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, the Grand Theft Auto team has a special offer for PlayStation next-gen console owners.
HOW TO GET GTA ONLINE FREE ON PS5
This week, Rockstar Games will release a new version of Grand Theft Auto V, with a lot of moving pieces. The most important thing to remember is that if you own a PlayStation 5, you can get a free copy of GTA Online. This version of the game will have next-generation upgrades, but not the single-player GTA 5 experience.
To take advantage of this new offer, log into your PS5 system and search the PlayStation Store for GTA Online. For the next three months, until June 14, you can get the standalone version for free and add it to your collection. The bargain will go live on Tuesday, March 15, so you'll have to wait until then to take advantage of it.
The only catch is that while GTA Online will be available for free on PS5 later this week, you'll need a PS Plus subscription to play it online. For those that pre-ordered digitally through the PlayStation 5 store, pre-loading for Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online is now accessible. Rockstar has confirmed that the crucial transfer system will be available this week:
“You can transfer Story Mode progress from your PS4 or Xbox One now by uploading a save to the Rockstar Games Social Club, and you’ll be able to migrate your GTA Online character on March 15. Those eager to continue their journey on the latest generation consoles will also get a fully converted Karin S95 souped up by the experts at Hao’s Special Works, along with a Hao’s Special Work Racing Outfit and set of new Chameleon paints usable on all vehicles.”
On Xbox Series X, the standalone version of GTA Online will cost $9.99, with no price reductions planned in the following months.
