Elden Ring: How to defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood
If you're unprepared, Mogh, Lord of Blood can be a nightmare, but carrying a few things and setting the correct level before approaching will spare you a lot of grief. Take a deep breath and prepare to bleed some blood as you enter Moghwyn Palace.
Equipment
Mogh, like his brother, has a shackle stashed someplace that will bind him to the earth for a short period of time. You'll be greeted by a pair of ugly lobsters if you make it all the way to the bottom of the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds beneath the capital city. You'll discover Mogh's shackle in the far corner if you sprint past them and slip into the fallen pipe for shelter.
We should double-check if you have the Purifying Crystal Tear after claiming the shackle. The majority of the damage Mogh's nasty, obnoxious (bad, unpleasant) ritual will inflict on you will be mitigated by this crystal tear. If you've seen Eleonora, Violet Bloody Finger in the Second Church of Marika on the Altus Plateau, you may already have it. If you haven't already, if you're actually strong enough to confront Mogh, she won't be a difficult opponent.
Your fight won't be easy with these two items plus a weapon that can cause bleed damage (ironically, the Lord of Blood has a horrible bleed weakness), but you'll spare yourself a lot of frustration. If you're still having trouble with Mogh, we recommend defeating her mother in the Evergaol in southwestern Liurnia to claim Black Knife Tiche's spirit ashes (this does, however, need completing Ranni's lengthy quest).
Strategy
Unless you're about level 100 or so, you might not want to take on this encounter. Make sure your Wonderous Flask has the Purifying Crystal Tear in it and take a gulp before entering the arena - the effect won't run off until Mogh's ritual starts midway through the fight. Apply his shackle liberally when he approaches; you'll be able to create a hemorrhage two or three times before the shackle becomes unusable.
He'll plant his feet and begin mending himself when his countdown reaches zero. Don't be put off by the healing. Your purifying tear will shield you while also allowing you to do some free damage and apply another bleeding. The second phase is eerily similar to the first; don't be alarmed by the flames on the floor. While weaving your way through the bloody magic napalm, you may wish to rely on ranged assaults for some breathing room.
