Hulu Down: Users Report broad technical difficulties and accessing the Hulu app

Hulu appeared to be having widespread technical issues on Thursday, as several customers across the United States reported issues streaming content and using the Hulu app. According to monitoring site Downdetector, user reports of Hulu difficulties began to surge at about 8 p.m. ET, with more than 57,000 complaints reported as of 8:21 p.m. ET. The issues were reported all around the country, with a particular focus in New York, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.

Hulu's problems, according to user accounts, affected both the on-demand and live TV levels of the site. "Playback unavailable?" read a statement on Hulu's main support website. We're looking into the problem right now and hope to get things back up and running soon. Thank you very much for your patience!"

Meanwhile, hulu.com's main page displayed an error notice saying, “We’ll be back. This page is temporarily unavailable. Please try refreshing the page or go back to the homepage.”
