Kingdom Hearts 4: Release date, trailer, platforms, and more details
Kingdom Hearts fans understand the agony of having to wait an eternity for the next major console release. Kingdom Hearts 3 was first announced at E3 2013, however, it didn't arrive on store shelves until six years later, in 2019. So, when we first saw Sora awaken in Quadratum at the Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary event, our first thought was, "When is Kingdom Hearts 4 coming out?" Fortunately, we shouldn't have to wait nearly as long for Kingdom Hearts 4 as we did for KH3. Square Enix appears to be sticking with Unreal Engine going forward, having switched from its in-house Luminous Engine midway through the production of Kingdom Hearts III. With any luck, we won't have to wait more than half a decade to see more of Sora and his pals.
Square has significantly boosted the realism of, well, everything – at least in its pre-rendered video – in the first episode of The Lost Master Arc, based on what we've seen thus far. We've also gotten proof that Sora does, in fact, have normal-sized feet. Continue reading to learn more about the Kingdom Hearts 4 release date, trailer, expected platforms, and more.
KINGDOM HEARTS 4 RELEASE DATE
The release date for Kingdom Hearts 4 is presently uncertain. Because the game was only recently revealed, it's safe to presume that it won't be released for at least another two years. Of course, we'll update this article as soon as we have additional information.
KINGDOM HEARTS 4 TRAILER
The reveal trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4 was unveiled at the Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary event in April 2022, and it's the only trailer we've seen thus far.
Sora awakens on a planet named Quadratum in the teaser, which looks to take place shortly after the events of Kingdom Hearts 3. Strelitzia, who was killed off in Kingdom Hearts Union Cross, is reintroduced early in the trailer. As a result, it appears that both Sora and Strelitzia are trapped in some sort of afterlife. Meanwhile, Donald and Goofy appear to be on the lookout for clues that would bring them back to their presumed-dead pal. Naturally, this takes them to the Underworld, where they may have a less-than-pleasant encounter with Hades.
KINGDOM HEARTS 4 PLATFORMS
Kingdom Hearts 4 is expected to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, though this has yet to be verified. Although Kingdom Hearts 3 was eventually released on PC and the Nintendo Switch via cloud gaming, it's still too early to speculate on a release outside of the PlayStation and Xbox.
