MLB The Show 22: How to pickoff runners
Picking off baserunners is a skill that not every pitcher possesses. If you catch a runner who has taken too much of a lead or is leaning toward a steal, you can get an easy out that will make them look foolish. In MLB The Show 22, here's how to toss a pickoff towards a base. Picking off runners is a rare occurrence in baseball, so don't expect to get many people out this way, but it can reduce the number of times they try to steal from you. Pickoffs can come from either the pitcher or the catcher in baseball.
Choose a pitch that causes the pitcher to enter their starting stance to attempt a pickoff. Hold down L2, LT, or ZL before commencing the wind-up to make them gaze over at the lead runner. This will allow you to see if the runner is taking a larger lead than it should be.
To throw to a base, simply press the base you want to throw to while holding down the trigger. To toss the ball over quickly, simply tap the trigger and button together before the camera switches the view. If you need to leave the mound because you're not feeling well, simply press L1, LB, or L.
Pickoffs by the catcher are even less often than pitcher pickoffs, thus you might think this section is pointless. Simply throw a pitch to the catcher and press the button you want to throw to while they catch it to try a pickoff. Your catcher will appear and shoot a throw at that bag, using an accuracy meter to determine the accuracy of the throw. If you're going to try it, pitching out or throwing inside to a left-handed batter will provide your catcher the best chance of catching the runner off guard.
