Sea of Thieves: What does Green Fog mean

While traveling the globe of Sea of Thieves, you will encounter a lot of new items and will most likely have some questions regarding various features. Whether you're fighting a beast of the deep or running routes for an enclave, you should know what you're up against. Here's what a green fog indicates if you've encountered it while playing the game.

If you notice green fog in your Sea of Thieves game, there are two potential causes, neither of which is cause for concern. The first reason you might notice it is because you're in the map's Wilds region. There are a few shipwrecks in this area, and it is considered a dangerous place to sail. Its fog has a darker green color, which is solely an aesthetic choice for the location.

Green fog can arise over regions related to the Shrouded Islands Adventure, in addition to sailing in The Wilds. It's known as the Fog of the Damned, and it denotes that the location is now undergoing a timed event in the Adventure. Only the Golden Sands Outpost has been completely engulfed in fog as of this writing, but if you sail towards it, nothing awful will happen to you. It's all part of the lore of Sea of Thieves and the story's progression.
