BTS will not attend this year's Billboard Music Awards 2022
BTS, the K-pop ensemble, will not attend the upcoming 2022 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), despite the fact that it is expected to win numerous awards, according to music industry sources. According to insiders, the septet just decided not to attend the awards presentation on Sunday in Las Vegas (U.S. time). Along with the American Music Awards and the Grammy Awards, the event is regarded as one of the three most important music awards in the United States.
Last year's BBMAs saw the South Korean band win four accolades, marking the fifth year in a row that they had won at least one trophy. For the next event, the band has garnered seven nominations. Top duo or group, top song sales artist, top Billboard worldwide artist (excluding US), top-selling song, top Billboard global song (excluding US), and top rock song all received nominations. However, two songs were nominated in the top-selling song category: "Butter" and "Permission to Dance."
It's the most BBMA nominations the band has ever earned. BTS is a strong contender for several awards, as its megahit "Butter" topped Billboard's Hot 100 main singles list for ten weeks in a row in 2021. If the group wins an award, it is said to be planning a virtual acceptance speech rather than performing on stage. According to the sources, BTS will instead concentrate on preparations for the release of its new album, "Proof," on June 10.
Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Billboard Global Artist/Excluding USA, Top Selling Song (for both Butter and Permission to Dance), Top Billboard Global Song/Excluding the USA, and Top Rock Song are among the categories in which BTS has been nominated.
