Borderlands 3: How To Play Cross-Platform Multiplayer

Borderlands 3 is the first mystery game to be released in May 2022, and the good news is that it is cross-platform multiplayer across Steam and Epic Games. The Epic Mega Sale has begun, and players can take advantage of a variety of excellent bargains. Discounts are available for Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, a BL spin-off, as well as other excellent games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Disco Elysium, and many others. The biggest prize, though, is probably this week's freebie, which allows players to play online across many platforms.

IS BORDERLANDS 3 CROSSPLAY?

Borderlands 3 has cross-platform multiplayer between Epic Games, Steam, and the Xbox 360. In 2019, BL3 received cross-platform multiplayer capability. As of this writing, the PS4 and PS5 are not included. Gearbox has stated that crossplay will be available in spring 2022 for the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game. However, no exact date has been set. To be clear, BL3 is only available for free on the Epic Games shop until May 26th at 16:00 BST. It will subsequently be replaced by another giveaway, which will remain a secret for the time being.

HOW TO PLAY BL3 CROSS-PLATFORM MULTIPLAYER

Before you can play cross-platform multiplayer in Borderlands 3, you must first create a crossplay display name. According to the game's website, you'll be met by an opt-in window where you can create your display name. If you can't find this window, go to your SHiFT account page and create or update your display name. The requirements for creating a display name are as follows:

• It must be a unique name not used by another Borderlands 3 player.
• Must be between 3-16 characters long
• Must start with a letter, and is limited to a-z, A-Z, 0-9, or non-consecutive underscore, a hyphen, or period/full-stop characters
