Call of Duty Warzone: Activision reveals details on Mobile as Closed Alpha begins
For a long time, fans have known that Call of Duty: Warzone, or at least a variant of it, will be coming to mobile platforms in the near future. Activision has been relatively silent on the game since the initial announcement via job advertising. That is, until now. Activision has revealed some interesting new insights regarding the smartphone game Project Aurora in a new blog post published today. While no details about the game were given, the company did clarify that it is now in an extremely limited Closed Alpha phase.
If you wish to join the alpha, you'll be dismayed to learn that there is no method to sign up and that invites are distributed on a very restricted basis. Participants aren't allowed to reveal any information regarding the Closed Alpha, thus Activision appears to be keeping everything under wraps for now. However, more invites will be sent out as the Alpha progresses, so there's still hope if you haven't received one yet.
The goal of this Closed Alpha, according to Activision, is to "enhance tuning, stress test matches, discover and repair bugs," as well as collect statistics and feedback on other parts of the game. The business also revealed that, predictably, the Closed Alpha would not include everything that the complete game will, and that in-game progress made during this period of testing will not be carried over to the final edition.
Activision says they don't have any information on when the game will be released and that they haven't even confirmed the official title yet, which might mean that the game won't be called "Warzone" at the end of the day. Only time will tell, and it will be fascinating to hear all the facts in the coming months.
