Here's how I figured out the solution to Canuckle 88 in five guesses today. I began with the word 'MAPLE,' which correctly put the E but did not reveal any additional letters in the word. I next guessed the word 'STONE' to check if any of the letters in this word were in today's answer. It did indicate that the word has an O, but it did not put it correctly. This indicated that the O was most likely the word's first or second letter.

The next word I guessed was 'CORBE,' because it employed letters that had never been guessed before and placed the O in a different position. This correctly placed the O as the second letter and also revealed that the term included an R. 'ROWIE' was the next word I guessed since it employed letters that had not before been guessed and placed the R in a different position. The R was correctly placed at the start of this word, but no more letters were revealed.

This left only two letters to guess and glancing at the letters I hadn't guessed previously helped me figure out the answer to Canuckle 88 in my next guess, which is ROUGE.
