Destiny 2: How to get Figments of Darkness
Figments of Darkness are essential for the Season of the Haunted upgrade path in Destiny 2. After visiting the Crown of Sorrow at the H.E.L.M., you earn the ability to obtain them during the Leviathan Returns quest. Figments of Darkness will be used to improve the Crown in the vendor menu, but getting your hands on them will take some time. Additional Figments of Darkness can be obtained in three ways.
- Complete the quest Bound in Sorrow and accompanying Season of the Haunted missions. You won't be able to finish Bound in Sorrow because the story will be told in the first few weeks of the Season. Figments of Darkness can be obtained through other missions throughout Season of the Haunted.
- Seasonal Challenges must be completed. The Sustained Fire Challenge grants a Figment of Darkness in week one. During the Sever weekly tasks, you must kill attackers with Auto and Trace Rifles on the Leviathan, as well as enemies with Solar damage.
- Earn vendor rankings in Crown of Sorrow. Per vendor rank prestige, you get three Figments of Darkness: the first at rank 4, the second at level 10, and the third and last at rank 16. Resetting your vendor rating will most certainly allow you to farm additional Figments.
Because all activities on the Leviathan, the Sever missions, and Crown of Sorrow Bounties raise your rank, grinding out Crown of Sorrow ranks is likely the most consistent way to earn Figments of Darkness. In around 45 minutes of exploring the Leviathan, fulfilling Bounties, and engaging in Containment missions, we were easily at rank 4.
At higher rankings, the development will likely decrease dramatically, and we advise not pushing yourself too hard to avoid burnout. Still, Leviathan activities and Bounties are the way to earn as many Figments of Darkness as possible.
