Destiny 2: Where to find the Nightmare of Qalec, the Sniper

In Destiny 2's Season of the Haunted, there are scores of powerful Nightmare opponents on the Derelict Leviathan. Some are required for the Reaper title, while others are required to acquire Triumphs. Based on our first week's tasks, the Nightmare of Qalec, the Sniper, falls under the latter category. The Drainage Triumph is earned by defeating the Nightmare of Qalec, the Sniper on the second page of the Derelict Leviathan section of the Season of the Haunted Triumphs section.

The Nightmare of Qalec can be found at the Royal Pools, down the hole surrounded by corruption on the area's back right. If you were looking for Calus Bobbleheads, you would have gone this route because the treasure is kept in an alcove deep in the region. Qalec, on the other hand, will not always be present. He spawns on a timer as a global boss and will not leave until he is defeated. Because the timer only resets when he dies, you'll have to wait a long if you visit the Royal Pools just after another Guardian has killed him.

Pay particular attention to the area above your abilities bar on the bottom left side of your screen. The Nightmare of Qalec is haunting the place when the notification "A red laser briefly passes by your Ghost" occurs. You'll have to battle with orange and yellow bar Psions, Legionaries, and War Hounds before you can get to him. Because they are all weaker Nightmare opponents, they all shed Unstable Essence when killed, making it simpler to damage Qalec.

Qalec can take a lot of damage, and his reinforcements keep spawning in, so you'll need to knock them all if you want to get to the boss. Both Qalec and the mobs in his region have 1640 power, albeit they don't hit as hard as an enemy in a GM Nightfall or other high-Power action would. Burn the Nightmare of Qalec with whatever means you have available, and you'll get the Drainage Triumph in no time. There are no respawning limits, so you can attack the guy as many times as you like.
