V Rising: Can You Play With A Controller?

If you're enjoying your time with V Rising, you might find yourself slumped over your keyboard and mouse for hours, hoping you could relax and enjoy it even more. In today's world, comfort reigns supreme, and you'll want to be as comfy as possible when playing the game. After all, building a palace and attempting to become the greatest vampire in the land is a lot of effort. That's why we're here today to answer the topic of whether or not you can play V Rising with a controller and, if so, how. Let's sink our teeth into this one, and hopefully, the outcome will not leave you begging for more.

Conquer Your Controls in V Rising

While there are a lot of various survival/crafting games out there, V Rising has a lot of distinct actions that you may perform with your keyboard and mouse. While you may technically play the game with a controller connected to your PC, you'll find that this isn't the greatest way to do it.

You wouldn't be able to do everything the game has to offer using a controller because there are so many distinct instructions. While the Steam page for V Rising states that there is no controller support, you could limp your way through the game with one, even if it isn't the recommended way to play.

According to Stunlock Studios; “We are not planning on designing the game with a controller or gamepad in mind for the time being. We are developing V Rising to be best enjoyed with a keyboard and mouse while making sure that it is easy enough for everyone to learn the controls.

During our tests, players who mostly enjoy games with a controller/gamepad learned the controls on the keyboard and mouse without issue during their first V Rising experience. Furthermore, you will be able to bind keys to the different commands to make it even easier for you to play V Rising exactly as you want, giving you all the freedom you need to enact all your dark desires.”

Because the lack of buttons can stymie your progress in the game, it's best to avoid using a controller while playing V Rising if you want to get the most out of it. While a future update may allow players to use a controller natively, if you insist on using a controller, you may be able to compensate for the absence of buttons by combining key inputs with your controller. While it would make things like movement feel a little better, the challenges you'd face outweigh any benefits it might provide.
