V Rising: How to Find the Boss and Unlock Rat Form

As you move through the world of V Rising, you'll be able to face a variety of V-Blood Bosses, each of which will reward you with new gear and stuff, allowing you to become the most powerful vampire in the nation. However, there are some other advantages that you may not be aware of; for example, some of these bosses allow you to add new shapeshifting forms to your ever-expanding armory. While you would ordinarily have to go out into the world to fight, the Putrid Rat can come to you. Learn how to summon this Level 30 Boss to your castle and activate the Rat Form!

Rats vs Bats in V Rising

Because V Rising is mostly a survival game, you'll need to go out into the world for a while before taking on this terrible rat in a battle for the ages. To create the Vermin Nest near your castle, you'll also need to collect at least 360 stones and 120 bones. After you've created the Vermin Nest, you'll be able to throw different materials into it to have random creatures, such as spiders or smaller rats, spawn at your location. However, if you want to summon the large boss, you'll need to throw the following ingredients into the Vermin Nest:
  • 8 Grave Dust
  • 4 Fish Bones
  • 1 Twilight Snapper
You'll have 30 seconds to prepare to face the Putrid Rat after tossing those into the Vermin Nest. This level 30 Boss isn't the most exciting opponent, but he does employ a cunning strategy: he hides underground. If this happens, you'll have to wipe out some smaller rats until the Putrid Rat reappears, at which point you'll have to punish them till they're defeated. After you've defeated this wretched creature, you'll have access to Rat Form, which allows you to slip around large areas relatively undetected.

There are several alternative shape-shifting forms accessible for your character, but traveling as a rat will allow you to move around more rapidly while avoiding enemy detection. If you suffer harm, the enchantment will be destroyed, and your true form will be revealed. This may be your best bet if you need to get there without getting into a fight, and it's relatively easy to earn!
