Dead by Daylight: How Shattered Hope works

In Dead by Daylight, Shattered Hope is a generic perk. The perk was first released in conjunction with the Roots of Dread chapter update. Because Shattered Hope is a universal perk, you can use it on any character in the game, allowing you to mix and match it with your favorite Killers. We'll go through how Shattered Hope works in Dead by Daylight in this guide.

Shattered Hope explained

Rather than suffocating Boon totems, you destroy them with Shattered Hope. When you demolish a Boon Totem, the Auras of any Survivors within range are revealed for a total of 6/7/8 seconds, depending on how much you've leveled it up. Preventing Survivors from utilizing these totems against you is an excellent idea for those who prefer to remove them from play and when you can dependably find them, especially when you have a brief chance to identify the other players after destroying them.

The issue with this benefit as a Killer is how narrow it may be. You've essentially wasted a perk slot if the Survivors don't bring a Boon with them to use during the encounter. The danger of Shattered Hope, on the other hand, can be incredibly valuable, especially if you find that your Killer isn't doing so well when the Survivors utilize them to try to outlast you after an escape. You don't want to spend too much time eliminating boons from the game, though, because it will divert your attention away from your main goal of stopping the Survivors from dealing with the generators.

It all boils down to personal preference, but as a general bonus, Shattered Hope is a good addition to Dead by Daylight that doesn't upset the game's overall meta.
