Hip-hop fans are known for their adamant opinions on the greatest albums of all time. Nas' Illmatic, Dr. Dre's The Chronic, Public Enemy's It Takes A Nation of Millions... are just a few examples. Hip Hop purists consider To Hold Us Back and 2Pac's All Eyez On Me to be the G.O.A.T. albums. As a result, when Rolling Stone published its list of the 200 Greatest Hip Hop Albums on Tuesday (June 7), the Twitter timeline was flooded with responses. Cardi B's 2018 debut, Invasion of Privacy, was ranked No. 16 in the Billboard 200, ahead of a slew of great albums, according to one fan, who wasn't satisfied.

“Rolling Stone just ranked ‘Invasion of Privacy’ as the 16th best Hip Hop album of all time and placed it above all of these classics: [Nas] Illmatic, [Outkast] Aquemini, [MF DOOM & Madlib] Madvillainy, [Dr. Dre] The Chronic, [Lil Wayne] The Carter III, [2Pac] All Eyez On Me, [JAY-Z] Reasonable Doubt, [Kendrick Lamar] good kid, m.A.A.d city, and [Eminem] The Marshall Mathers LP. Wtf man.”

Of course, Eric B. & Rakim's 1988 masterpiece Paid In Full, Ghostface Killah's 2000 solo album Supreme Clientele, Dr. Dre's 2001, Lauryn Hill's The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, A Tribe Called Quest's A Low-End Theory, and JAY-The Z's Blueprint all placed higher than Invasion Of Privacy. To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar, It Takes A Nation by Public Enemy, The Blueprint by JAY-Z, Stankonia by Outkast, and The Notorious B.I.G.'s The Notorious B.I.G.'s The Notorious B.I.G.'s The Notorious B.I.G.'s The Notorious B.I.G.'s The Notor The debut album by Notorious B.I.G., Ready To Die, rounded out the Top 5.

While all of the picks were excellent, some couldn't get over Cardi B's omission. "According to Rolling Stone, Cardi B's Invasion of Privacy is the 16th greatest hip hop album of all time... This individual is completely nuts. "Ain't no way Rolling Stone just named Cardi B's Invasion of Privacy a Top 16 hip hop album of ALL TIME," one user wrote, while another stated, "Ain't no way Rolling Stone just labeled Invasion of Privacy by Cardi B a Top 16 hip hop album of ALL TIME." "It's disrespectful to everything that comes before it." "I didn't expect much from Rolling Stone," another said, "but ranking this Cardi B album over classics like Illmatic and mmlp is simply foolishness."

Atlantic Records released Invasion of Privacy in April 2018. The album opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling over 255,000 total album-equivalent units in its first week, with around 103,000 of those coming from pure album sales. The Recording Industry Association of America awarded it 3x platinum certification (RIAA).
