NBA Finals: Golden State Warriors win NBA Championship

Golden State has won the NBA title for the fourth time in four seasons. It's the franchise's seventh championship, and the fourth for Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, who has spent the past decade growing up together, winning together, and learning how fragile success can be over the last three years. They won Game 6 of the NBA playoffs against the Boston Celtics, 103-90, to win the series 4-2, and celebrated their clinching victory on the parquet floor of TD Garden, beneath 17 championship banners, in front of a throng of devastated fans.

The Golden State Warriors have won the NBA Finals for the fourth time in the last eight years, defeating the Boston Celtics 103-90 in Game 6 of the series at TD Garden on Thursday night. After falling behind 14-2 early in the game, the Warriors eventually took control with a 30-8 run that lasted from the end of the first quarter to the beginning of the second.

While the Celtics were able to decrease the lead to single digits in the fourth quarter, Stephen Curry and the Warriors were not about to let another championship slip away from them, as they seemed to have an answer for every surge Boston made down the line. Curry finished the series-clinching triumph with a team-high 34 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, adding yet another chapter to an already illustrious career. Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson all scored in double figures for the Warriors, as did the rest of the team.

The Celtics, on the other hand, were led by Jaylen Brown, who gave it his all with 34 points, seven rebounds, and three assists, but it wasn't enough to extend their season one more game. The Celtics' executive staff will have to find a way to get this team over the hump in the future, but tonight is all about the Warriors extending their dynasty.

Celtics will rue a missed opportunity

The Celtics led the series 2-1 and had a lead late in Game 4's fourth quarter. They might be celebrating a title tonight if they could just hold on down the stretch of that game. Instead, they've dropped three straight games and will be kicking themselves for squandering a golden opportunity. Yes, they have a young, talented core that should keep them in the playoff hunt for many years. But getting to the Finals is never easy, and in five years, we may look back on this series as their best chance to win a championship with this group.

Warriors win their fourth championship in eight years

Golden State was the better team for the majority of the game, and the Warriors have won the championship after missing the playoffs the previous two seasons. Curry delivered a masterful performance not just in Game 6, but throughout the series to win his fourth championship.
