Police officer shot and injured in West New York, New Jersey

After being shot on Friday evening in West New York, New Jersey, a police officer has been hospitalized with injuries sustained. It was reported that there had been an incident of domestic violence at a residence located on 59th Street. Officers responded to the scene. It was stated that a suspect opened fire on officers as they knocked on the door of the residence. One of the officers was injured.

Two of the police opened fire in return, wounding the suspect. It has been determined that the injuries sustained by the officer are not life-threatening. He is currently receiving care at a neighboring medical facility after being transported there. It is yet unknown what condition the suspect is in.
