Sonic Origins: Can you play as Tails and Knuckles in Sonic 1 and Sonic CD?
Gamers from the 1990s will experience a lot of nostalgia playing Sonic Origins' collection of classic Sonic the Hedgehog games from the Sega Genesis and CD. The addition of additional features in the Anniversary editions of these games improves the overall experience and brings it more in line with modern video game releases. But you could play as characters in Sonic & Knuckles on the Sega Genesis that you couldn't ordinarily in other Sonic games thanks the lock-on technology feature. Can you play Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and CD as Tails and Knuckles in Sonic Origins?
Can you play as Tails and Knuckles in Sonic 1 and CD in Sonic Origins?
Because Tails and Knuckles had not yet been introduced when Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and Sonic CD were first released, the blue blur was the sole playable character. However, you could combine your cartridges for Sonic and Knuckles and play as Knuckles in both Sonic 1 and Sonic 2. With Sonic Origins, though, Sega has taken things a step further.
In Sonic 1 and 2, you can play as Tails and Knuckles, and when you do so and go back to that spot, fresh title screens will emerge. You can even combine them to form a team for the second game. Strangely, Knuckles isn't playable in Sonic CD; only Sonic and Tails are. We don't know why this is. You would think it would be simple to convert it over because Sega introduced Tails into the mix with the 2011 remake of the game, but for whatever reason, they didn't.
Any game you choose to start from the main menu will take you to the title screen. A character-choosing screen is presented to you at the beginning. Simply return to this screen and restart the adventure if you ever want to alter your character, or enter the level select code.
