The Quarry: Should Laura Snoop on Max or Not in the Prologue?

The Quarry's decisions aren't necessarily life-changing, but they do have subtle effects. Despite being a horror game by any definition, it contains plenty of human drama, and the heroes are frequently put in circumstances where their instincts take over, perhaps causing a chain reaction. In the prologue, we see Laura and Max, a charming couple, traveling to Hackett's Quarry a day early, only to be chased off the road by a weird sighting. Laura notices something Max is hiding in the trunk as soon as she exits the vehicle. Should Laura snoop on Max in The Quarry's prologue or not? Should Laura Snoop on Max in The Quarry?

Finally, a spoiler alert. This is the first option you must make on a timer (excluding QTE, which are more about reaction than decisions), however, if you push the action button to snoop, you will discover an embarrassing secret rather than any dreadful secrets. A letter from the university to which Max applied can be found here. It's a rejection letter, and Max is concealing it from Laura because it's the same school where they both applied.

This has no bearing on the Prologue's continuation or even being mentioned, but as you proceed through the story, it may be best not to snoop at all, as it turns out that not knowing can be helpful. Keep in mind that you're playing as the characters, and even simple activities like investigating will have long-term consequences because it's information they can't unlearn. Keep in mind that rummaging through their possessions without their knowledge is something that comes into play while playing as a couple whose bond has yet to be thoroughly tested.

The presence of a timer above action does not imply that you must use it before the timer runs out; it is simply a test of your judgment. However, for the sake of completeness, you'll eventually want to snoop to see how events unfold in the future.
