Diablo Immortal: Are there any loot boxes?

Loot boxes have been one of the most contentious additions to video games since the 2010s. People dislike them because they create similarities to gambling, and when you have children who are susceptible to gambling, you have a mess on your hands. As a result, loot boxes have been outlawed in a number of countries. Before its release, Diablo Immortal was prohibited in two countries due to their loot box laws, but does the game actually include loot boxes?

Are there any loot boxes in Diablo Immortal?

If you're hoping for loot boxes, which are a common feature in previous Diablo games, Diablo Immortal does not contain them. However, there is a component in the game that functions virtually identically to a loot box, which is likely one of the reasons the game was banned in some areas. The Elder Rifts is one of Diablo Immortal's most popular game modes. You must run through these zones filled with adversaries in order to gain random loot and awards at the finish. Players can, however, earn and purchase Crests, which can be used to "alter" the Rift and gain greater rewards.

Elder Rifts' loot box structure in Diablo Immortal is largely made up of these Crests. You have a higher chance of being awarded random goodies if you spend real money on the Crests. You're basically putting money down to improve your gambling odds in this one area of the game. Regrettably, this also establishes the game as a pay-to-win title. You will always get better drops if you use Legendary Crests on the Rifts than if you don't.
