The year 2022 will bring fans a number of much-awaited movies. While "Thor: Love and Thunder" is already receiving a lot of online attention, "Amsterdam" by David O. Russell is another movie that everyone is looking forward to. The Los Angeles-shot film is popular since it is Russell's return to directing following his 2015 biographical comedy-drama "Joy." Prior to that, Russell became well-known for his directing work on movies including "Spanking the Monkey," "Flirting with Disaster," "Three Kings," "I Heart Huckabees," "The Fighter," and many more.

The filming of "Amsterdam" was set to begin in April when it was first announced in 2020. However, the Covid-19 epidemic also caused it to be delayed, just like every other project. As a result, production only started in January 2021 after a protracted casting process. Originally cast in the movie, Michael B. Jordan withdrew owing to scheduling issues. Margot Robbie was apparently considered for the part of Jennifer Lawrence, but Robbie was confirmed to appear by January 2021. In April 2022, the title of the film was made public at CinemaCon.
