On Wednesday, July 6, the CBS reality series "Big Brother" will return for Season 24. The cast has just been announced. However, Matt "Turner" Turner, one of the candidates, was dragged through Twitter over claims made by his sister just hours after the cast was made public. 'Big Brother is back. This season's cast includes a personal shopper, an interior designer, a chemical processing engineer, a private chef, hypnotherapy, a Vegas performer, an attorney, and more. Before the season even started, one of the many has already drawn criticism: the proprietor of a thrift shop. Let's find out what caused him to receive criticism from 'Big Brother fans on Twitter before he ever entered the house.
Big Brother Season 4: Who is Matt Turner?
Matt Turner, a 23-year-old proprietor of a secondhand shop in New Bedford, Massachusetts, is from North Attleborough, according to reports. According to rumors, Matt worked for popular YouTuber Mr. Beast before starting his thrift store. He reportedly collaborated with MrBeast, also known as Jimmy Donaldson, between 2018 and 2019. However, he said in May 2021 that Donaldson routinely called him a "word intended to degrade persons with mental problems," which made him cry, and that he received criticism "nearly every day." The NY Times reported that Donaldson initially only hired friends to work for him, but as his company grew, so did his workforce.
Matt claimed that Donaldson's followers reacted angrily to his social media posts and videos about his experience, even threatening to kill him. In response to Rogue Rocket's request for comment, MrBeast shared a tape that Matt had previously published, on which he painted a much better picture of his professional experience. In the video, which has since been taken down but is still accessible in re-uploads, Matt referred to the position as a "dream job" and encouraged others to work for Donaldson. After that, Matt said that the decision to let him go was mutual because the company knew he wouldn't stay long.
They decided to part ways after Matt said that he was attending college, intended to travel throughout Asia, and was considering relocating to Los Angeles. He added that after he quit working there, Donaldson, who had been paying his rent while he was there, kept doing so and urged him to stay as long as he needed. Matt asserted that after leaving the job for an unforeseen period of time, he was even paid.
But before the article in The New York Times was published, Matt made other remarks about his time working with Donaldson. In a number of earlier tweets that were subsequently deleted, he had previously spoken of a tough job where he had been "bullied" and was "having mental breakdowns day after day." In another video he recorded, which has since been taken down but has been partially re-uploaded by other channels, he said that he only made positive remarks about Donaldson because he was afraid of what would happen if he said anything bad about the YouTuber. Then, he painted a far worse picture of Donaldson, including one instance in which the latter is said to have raged at him and wiped an entire project after being upset with an edit.
Matt's older sister, Holly Turner, took to Twitter to talk about her experience with her younger brother when CBS unveiled the Season 24 roster. She stated that he had mistreated her for her entire life. She further claimed that he had persuaded their mother to have her removed from the house although she was homeless and jobless and had nowhere else to go but to stay at their parents' home. She continued by saying that as a result of the way he treated her, he has given her acute, excruciating anxiety and panic attacks that have plagued her ever since. Additionally, according to his sister, he routinely uses the "N-word."
Holly took issue with the allegations made by her brother over how YouTuber MrBeast treated him. She claims that in order to get rid of him and start his own YouTube career, Matt made up lies about him.
