Mickey Guyton will host PBS' A Capitol Fourth on Monday (July 4.) She's also excited to bring her 16-month-old son Grayson to Washington, D.C. Guyton hopes to watch the fireworks with her husband, Grant Savoy, and son, Grayson. "I'm excited to watch my son experience this," she tells People. Grayson will love the fireworks. The "Black Like Me" star says her son will make the extra weekend special. "The best part of being a parent is watching your child experience things you loved for the first time, and she thinks it will be cool to see him see fireworks. See fireworks!"

Guyton will be seeing A Capitol Fourth for the first time, though she performed in last year's special. COVID-19 restrictions have forced pre-recording for two years. The singer said the live element makes A Capitol Fourth even more special.

Guyton said, "I'm so excited." "I hope to bring fun and happiness to everyone, at home, and at this event, as a Black country singer. In a trying time for our country, being asked to host this event could be a great way to promote unity." A Capitol Fourth will air on PBS on July 4 at 8PM ET and on the American Forces Network. Guyton is also a performer on the all-genre bill, along with Jake Owen.
