Digimon Survive: How to defeat Dokugumon

In Digimon Survive, Dokugumon, a huge spider with deadly attacks and sticky webs, is the first boss battle you encounter. When you clean the cobwebs off a desk in the classroom, you find Aoi has vanished and has been caught by Dokugumon. She can only be saved if Dokugumon and its henchmen are vanquished. After an early cinematic in which you use your newly discovered spirit light to burn and weaken Dokugumon, the tactical part of the battle begins.

Strategies for fighting Dokugumon

Dokugumon's battle with the player takes place in a room with few potential hazards. It spawns far from its three smaller minions in the corner. As a result, it's wise to single out each foe and deal with them individually. This provides you with some degree of group protection, which is crucial for maintaining the lives of both Labramon and Agumon (a requirement for the fight). In addition, this makes it simpler for you to hit from the sides and behind, both of which will increase your damage. Given its substantial health reserve, Dokugumon will particularly benefit from this. However, it's crucial to eliminate the minions initially to prevent being overpowered later when more of them appear. Given that all of these foes are vulnerable to fire damage, Agumon should be very useful in this situation.

A cutscene that follows the first phase of the game shows the summoning of two more minions in a distant area of the room. Agumon receives a surge of energy as retribution, unlocking its initial evolution and changing into Tyrannomon. As a result, the final phase of the battle is a little simpler than the beginning because Tyrannomon's damage is greatly increased compared to Agumon's. Similar to the first phase, this is where the optimal approach is. Just focus on isolating targets and try to make good use of flanking. But since you won't need any more reinforcements during this phase, it doesn't matter in what sequence you attack each foe.
