Pokemon Go: How to Defeat Arlo July 2022

Trainers will need to modify their teams now that Arlo has enhanced his in Pokemon GO. Arlo, like the other Team GO Rocket Executives, regularly switches his team to reflect the Pokemon that Team GO Rocket is now fixated on. We have described his team as of July 10 and the strategies trainers can take to counteract it.

How to Beat Pokemon GO Arlo in July 2022

Arlo will always begin with one Pokemon and select his second and third from corresponding species pools.

First Pokemon: Exeggcute

The pre-evolved version of Exeggcutor is Exeggcute, a Generation I grass and psychic-type Pokemon. It stands out in particular because it resembles a clutch of sentient eggs. Although it has a vast number of vulnerabilities, such as those against fire, darkness, ice, and poison, its worst weakness is against certain bug varieties, such as:
  • Volacrona (Bug Bite/Fire Spin + Bug Buzz/Overheat)
  • Yanmega (Bug Bite + Bug Buzz)
  • Genesect (Fury Cutter + X-Scissor)
  • Pinsir (Bug Bite + X-Scissor)

Second Pokemon: Salamence, Dragonite, Alolan Exeggcutor

Arlo deviates from the norm with his second selection. Everybody has a weakness of the fairy or ice variety, but unlike Cliff and Sierra, there is no holdover from round one. With the exception of Salamence and Dragonite, all of the second-round Pokemon are of some variety of dragon type. On the other hand, Alolan Exeggcutor is partial to the grass type, making it particularly vulnerable to ice types like:
  • Glaceon (Frost Breath + Avalanche)
  • Galarian Darmanitan (Ice Fang + Avalanche)
  • Weavile (Ice Shard + Avalanche)
  • Mamoswine (Powder Snow + Avalanche)
Trainers could also utilize Fairy-type Pokémon like Gardevoir and Sylveon, although they are less safe because ice-types are slightly more powerful in this battle.

Third Pokemon: Gardevoir, Steelix, and Scizor

Due to the weakness of both Steelix and Scizor against fire-types, Gardevoir, the wildcard, represents the only genuine threat in this conflict. Trainers can easily get around this by seeking fire-type Pokémon with a stronger combination than it. Since Scizor and Steelix are both steel types, ghost-type Pokemon are the best bet here. The best alternatives here would therefore be:
  • Chandelure (Fire Spin/Incinerate + Shadow Ball)
  • Heatran (Fire Spin + Flamethrower/Iron Head)
  • Salazzle (Incinerate/Poison Jab + Fire Blast)

Best Team for Arlo: Volcarona, Mamoswine, Chandelure

We want to look for overlap once more. Although Arlo doesn't have much, he does have a gap that fire-types or fire-type hybrids can exploit. Volcarona and Chandelure both excel in these roles, allowing one to win the opening round and act as a viable backup for the decisive bout. Arlo's battle is definitely a song of ice and fire because round three is easily won by ice-types.
