Call of Duty Warzone: How to choose a faction in the Heroes vs Villains event

The fifth and final Vanguard season of Call of Duty: Warzone features a Heroes vs. Villains event that can be enjoyed in all game modes. Although the gameplay isn't significantly altered, after selecting a side, players can access a wide range of cosmetics. However, the battle royale never explicitly explains how choosing a group is done in the first place. Here is how to choose a faction in Warzone's temporary event.

How to pick a side in Warzone’s Heroes vs. Villains

In order to select their side in the event, players must look through loot crates and corpses for their first Hero or Villain token, which grants points toward free cosmetics. Both types of tokens will spawn from the first treasure container or eliminated player you come across, but you can only take one of each. After you choose a group, the rest of the tokens you find in the game will only belong to that group.

Having said that, the subsequent matches will present you with this choice once more. This indicates that while the event is still active, you can earn points for both squads. Certainly, if you want to get all of the event's cosmetics, you must do so. This is so that you can only receive the award meant for that faction if you've hit a certain point milestone for it. For example, to get the Villain Insignia Emblem, you need 1,500 Villain Points, which is the same as 15 Villain Tokens.

The Hero Insignia Emblem can then be unlocked with 1,500 Hero Points. Therefore, an identical procedure must be followed for the Hero side. Players can acquire as many as eight different free cosmetics during the Heroes vs. Villains event. This features blueprints, a melee weapon skin, and charms with superhero and villain themes. You won't have the whole season to attain your necessary point thresholds, though. The current end date for the event is September 14 at 12 PM ET.
