Before setting sail on their voyage, ship captains in Sea of Thieves have the option to buy a fully personalized ship. The typical cosmetic designs, interior options, or a ship with various baubles on show within it are all available for these customizable spacecraft. Can crewmates in Sea of Thieves personalize Captained ships for their buddies who are taking part in these journeys?

Can crewmates customize a friend’s ship in Sea of Thieves?

We can confirm that crew members of a captain-commanded ship will have the opportunity to contribute to the customization of a ship. As long as the Captain authorizes it, they are free to enter to make minor adjustments and conduct themselves similarly to a Captain. This setting is not the default. The Captain can revoke these permissions at any time, but they must be approved during a session to prevent a Captain from losing a ship to a rowdy crewmate. Only once you have purchased a ship are you able to choose from these options.

The selection is located in your main menu's My Crew settings. If you choose it, you will have the choice to choose your ship's captain's permissions. You can choose any crew member who is currently a part of your party to have the same privilege as a captain, allowing them to play around with the ship as they choose. Especially if you value your ship's aesthetic appeal, we advise against treating this setting lightly, even if a different crew member cannot permanently damage you or ruin a session. By returning to the same menu panel, you can revoke these permissions whenever you choose.
