Can Inkay Be Shiny In Pokémon Go?

Now that Niantic has revealed the Season of Light, many of the September 2022 activities are planned, and the Inkay Limited Research Day is quickly approaching. There has never been a better time for the Revolving Pokémon to make a comeback, especially with a brand-new Psychic Cup on the horizon with a cosmic theme. During the 2021 Psychic Spectacular last year, Inkay made its Pokémon GO debut. However, unlike most debuts in the mobile game, there was no shiny form to capture. It would be the ideal moment to add the chance for a shining Malamar, given it has been a year since the last psychic event.

Pokémon Go: Can Inkay Be Shiny?

One of the first limited research events in the Pokémon GO Season of Light will begin on September 3 with Inkay. The chance to catch a dazzling Inkay is one of the nicest improvements to this psychic-type event. The Revolving Pokémon's shiny form will undoubtedly be present for the first time in the game. Inkay in shiny form has a vastly different color palette than Inkay in regular form. The glossy variant contains green and gold tones instead of the squid's trademark deep blues and blacks. The colors used in the initial form and Malamar's color schemes are identical.

You have a better chance of finding a shiny because the revolving Pokémon are featured in the Limited Research event. When you come across a Pokémon in the wild, your chances of finding a shiny are always about 1 in 500. Raids, community events, or even just simple events like GO Fest can treble your chances of getting a shiny. Similar odds will apply to this Pokémon GO event, but that doesn't mean you can't improve them. On September 3, the Inkay event will launch at 11 a.m. and run until 2 p.m. Along with some fresh studies, Inkay will spawn in the wild almost continuously. That is the ideal opportunity to make the debut shine.

If you find yourself close to certain PokéStops while the hours are in effect, make sure you have an activated Incense Lure and a Lure Module. You have a higher chance of finding more Inkay spawning in a more crowded location. When you find one, simply inspect it to see if it is shiny; if not, move on to the next catch.
